In order to obtain the
best results from your candles, please keep these rules in mind.
All candles, especially
highly scented, will produce some smoke and soot, but following these rules
will help eliminate these problems.
Never leave a burning candle unattended!
Place on a level and heat resistant surface.
Keep burning candle away from children and pets.
Keep foreign matter (wick trimmings, matches, etc.) or combustible
materials away form burning candles.
Do not place near flammable objects such as wall, curtains,
etc.
Avoid burning candles where there is a draft, this could cause
uneven burning and irregular flame.
Keep wick trimmed to 1/4 of an inch to avoid black smoking
or soot on nearby objects and mushrooming (carbon build up) on the wick.
A toenail clipper works well if wick is too hard to reach
with scissors.
Allow candle to cool before trimming wick or relighting.
Never move a burning candle or one that has liquefied. The
container will be HOT!
To prevent fading, keep candles out of direct sunlight.
A candle has a memory. Candles should burn until a melt pool
has reached across the top. If the candle is extinguished before a full melt
pool has been reached, the next time the candles is lit, the melt pool will
only go as far as the time before, leaving wax along the side of the jar.
Burn candle no longer that four (4) hours at a time.
Do not use lids to extinguish candles. Allow candles to cool
completely before replacing the lid on the jar.
To distinguish candles snuff them out rather than blowing.
Blowing out candles could allow burning pieces of wick or hot wax to land
on a nearby flammable surface, it also allows smoke to fill the air.
Do not touch melted wax, it will be HOT!
To avoid glass containers from shattering; Do not burn a candle
in a chipped or cracked container. Leave at least a 1/2 inch of wax in the
bottom of the container. Do not allow the flame to touch the sides of the
container.
To clean containers, put them in the freezer for a couple
of hours, the wax will shrink and holding the container upside down tap gently
on the bottom to release the leftover wax. If this doesn't work, or doesn't
get all the wax out, it may be removed by running very hot water over the
container.
